  • nagging question in my mind...help please

say i did a full detail with clay, polish (pure polish or cleaner/polish) and a wax.

then a month later i had to clay the car again. now i know claying will remove wax, but will the polish be removed too? see im not sure if polishes sit on top of paint like wax or if its absorbed into the pores of the paint where claying cant reach

some please give insight to this question, its been buggin' me for the last few days

Here's a thread about polish that you might want to read...

Pure Polishes - Comments, Questions, Suggestions? Hi everyone, I need to write an article for a magazine on pure polishes today with the focus on how to apply and remove them. While I'm at it, I thought I would ask our community to give me their input in the way of any comments, questions or suggestions on the topic. Then

I guess it's possible that the lube itself could remove some of the polish, but if it were me, I would just go ahead reapply more polish before waxing if it's that important to you.

I just don't know if clay in itself will remove polish or not.

okay if you do the five step car paint process which included claying...you shoudnt need to reclay next month unless sap or rail dust or overspray etc... you might need to do a touch up in certain areas...now if you happen to feel the paint after washing the car next month and feel that its need to be reclayed then by all mean s do so it wont hurt the paint....

now remember this anytime you touch your car or anything come in contact included for example washing the vehicle or QD you are removing wax.....now when you clay the car you will remove the wax but
its not the clay remove it the back and forth motion, but there no way of knowing if you removed all wax or wax/polish so your best bet is to reapply the polish and wax...but remeber as long as you use high quality products and detailing tools for example Megs and also you must maintain your wax finish you should need to do the five steps as long as you do something to maintain that wax look ...hope this helps and should i missed something or am wrong please let me me know....have fun
