  • HELP- quick super polish tips needed!!!

I have a 1960 mga, i restored the vehicle from the body off the chassis 10 years ago, it has been stored since and only covered 100 miles. I now have it out of storage and wish to bling it up!. It has a British Green Standox clear over base paint appied and the finish is better than most new vehicles, but i have those really fine spiders web scratches in it and some small swirls from dusting it **** sorry **** i now know now why you should never do it!. I have used Meguiars Gold Class wax, but it didnt seem to give a really good finish, ( i only did it tonight under frourescent light ) and i want it ready for a show on Sunday, HELP any ideas greatly appreciated. I have not access to any machines so it is all by hand!.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Chris,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Since you don't have access to any machines, and this means you're going to do everything by hand, then what you're going to want to do is set aside some time to rub out the entire finish by hand using ScratchX.

Follow this with an application of Deep Crystal Polish, and then follow this with some NXT Tech Wax, either paste or liquid.

Can you get these three products? If you can, you'll probably want to get two tubes of ScratchX to make sure you have enough even though an MGA isn't that big.

Here's an MGA we had at a recent detail class here at Meguiar's.

I've owned two of these by the way, one that was a driver and the other was a parts car. I sold both to a good friend who still owns them to this day. Cool cars, fun to drive.

I've also owned two Spitfires and Two Midgets, one 1963 and a 1965, the 63 was a parts car, (You always need a parts car), while the 65 was a driver. Cool thing about the 65 was it was the year they introduced roll-up windows. Until you own a car without them, you don't fully appreciate them!

      Super polish tips needed

      Mike,

Your post about having owned several old british sports cars made my day! I've owned 2 E-Types, 2 MGB's (just sold my last one), 2 TR-6's, 3 Healey 3000's. Boy, are you ever right about side screens. It's sort of like self-flagellation - you just feel like theres got to be a better way! Regards.
