  • ? on using #83

Hey guy's, I have some swirls, scratches on my black car. This is what I have in my arsenal:
#83, DC123, SX, 16 and GC liquid wax.

Now do I hit it with the 83 then DC2 or try the DC1 first and see what happens? Oh, I also have a 7" Craftsman orbital buffer I will be using. I have the applicator pads and a final dry buff pad from Craftsman, plus MF towels. I think the dry buff pad gave me the swirls
Before I begin I also wash it properly. Thanks to all!!

Then maybe try GC topped by 16.

    kelly,

Well, I doubt that you will be able to work the #83 properly with that buffer. In addition, those "slip-on" pads that they make for those buffers really aren't worth much... at least in my opinion.

I would try using the ScratchX by hand to remove your swirls... even if you have to do a couple panels a day to get the results you want.

The DC1 is a paint cleaner, and will probably only remove some superficial swirls.

The DC2 is more of a glaze, and won't remove any swirls. However, it might help "hide" some of them.

    Good luck.

      i agree with Boss...

one that orbital buffer will not do paint correction your better selling it and buying a g100...imho

also yes , try scratch x .....make sure to have high tech pads and a microfiber and a terry cloth and use some elbow grease(muscle)

also remember what meguiars says use the least aggresive first if you had scratchx(byhand) then #80(if no lucky) then #83 (both for g100)

True. Don't use that buffer with #83, you need more power to break down the abrasives. I would use DC 1 first, (you'll be amazed at the difference), then Scratch X because it IS a type of polish. Then DC 2 (wonderful polish) then Gold Class Wax it with DC 3 on top (if you want, but it looks Dyn-o-mite on a black finish).

you'll be suprised at how much this combination will knock out some of those swirlies. Post some pics when you get done!!!

Ok!! I'll try DC1 first then SX my hand. Those pads kinda slinged stuff all around!! Do not know if I can get to it today. Wife was up all night sick . We are off for the holiday and she's down.
Saving for a G100 or similar. There is an auction this weekend at a out of business auto parts store, maybe they have one

          Thanks.
