  • NXT Glass Cleaner advice needed

OK I have been using the NXT glass cleaner for a few months now and overall I like it.

BUT, I get the same apparent static buildup from it as others seem to have had and I have tried some of the suggestions for avoiding it without much success.

I use 2 Meg's Duo-Fiber Glass MFs. One to apply (sparingly) and one to buff. I end up with lint/dust all over the place. At night it almost looks like I have smeared metal flake all over my window.

Has anyone figured out a way to beat this problem. As a glass cleaner, it works great, removes everything I have put it up against with minimal streaking. No complaints there. But this static/dust issue just got on my nerves. In the meantime I am expecting a shipment of the Pro-Line glass cleaner and will see how that works out.

I think the problem you are experiencing is related to the Duo-Fiber towels, not the NXT glass cleaner. Meguiars is aware of a linting problem with Duo-fiber towels and working on a solution.

    Check this thread.

I have used NXT glass cleaner numerous times with different MF towels and even paper towel and had no linting problems. The only time I had a linting problem was when using the Duo-fiber towels.

hmm. I don't get the lint issue with Rain-X glass Cleaner. I was thinking it was more applicable to the cleaner than the towels. We'll see. I am sure Meg's is on it. I am glad I did not buy too many of them.

I have a couple of other supposed "glass" towels I am going to try out next time. I picked them up at Target tonight. I forget who makes them but their appearance is shiney and much smoother than what I am used to seeing. I doubt they will lint up as bad. Might need to wash them first though.

I also have some cheapo MFs I use for multipurpose stuff I got from Walmart and they lint pretty bad as well.

Edited for an afterthought. I think linting is going to come from just about any kind of fabric. Nature of the beast. Some more than others. Around the Hangar here somewhere we have some lint free cloth we use on the Aircraft Cockpit Windows. I might have to try a couple of those and see if they can be obtained through retail. They look kind of like the fabric of long johns but with a tighter weave and lint free.
