  • storing/ drying water magnet

    Ok, I confess, I only now got my hands on a water magnet, I have been using terry. I always washed and dryed my terrys after every drying, but think that that was overkill. I don't think there is a need to wash towel after every dry, so how do you guys store the towel while letting it dry without accumulating dust?

    I used to use close line clips and hang dry it in a cabinet in my garage. Now that I am away at school, I just hang dry it on the towel bar in my room. When dry I store it in a absorber plastic case. Then when I am ready to dry car, I just give it a good smack to get off an dust.

      I normally see little dark dirty spots after using the water magnet so I wash almost every time I use it. But when I get lucky and there's nothing visible I hang it up on a hanger inside. In a certain way so that it dries faster. Once it's dry I store it with my microfibers in a plastic droor. A little setup by sterilite. and no dust with get in there. But yeah I little smack is good before storing.

        i store mine in a gallon sized zip lock bag with hole poked in it, if you seal it up completely it will stink to high heaven and mold.

          I store mine in a Plastic drawer thing I got from Wal-Mart... keeps them clean and dust free. Sounds like something F-150 has, mine is made by Sterilite as well.

          a little OT but, how often do you wash the Water Magnet?

              HMMM, I think I am going to purchase some sort of plastic draw system for all my toweling, seems like a great idea, and I could really use the room on my sheving. Right now I store my toweling in seperate Milk crates (cover of course, no dust can get in even through the sides)

                I don't know what OT stands for but I only wash the water magnet if* there's dirty spots or if it feels not as soft. I hand wash it with woolite and rinse it thoroughly and only use tide when I need to. (to get stains out) But I got my plastic drawer setup from Wal- Mart as well. But to answer your question, I probably wash it once very 2 -3 washes, I find that they only last about a month before they start to feel too rough to use on the paint. I have yet to try the super suede drying cloth tho.

                  OT = Off Topic

                  SS Drying cloth is ok... I feel the Water Magnet is a more absorbent towel and there are far less streaks with the Water Magnet. I use the SS Drying towel for windows/plastic trim (does a great job here) I prefer not to use it on the paint.

                    I also store my pads, towels and water magnet in Zip-Lock bags. Never realized a smell! ;-) Reason could be that I never put them wet into these bags, I always clean them by handwash after the carwash, then hang it on a line and after drying they come into the ziplocks... If you press out the air you can store all towels etc without loosing space! ;-)
