You should clay, because it removes the pesty dirt that are embedded in your paint.

If your paint does not feel slick as glass after washing & drying, then it's time to clay.

Personally, I'm not satisfied unless my finish is very smooth & slick before I use a paint cleaner.......Or in your case, ColorX.

i dont kno if its just me but i never really felt 100% comfortable claying my car i mean your clear coat is only as thick as a piece of paper and your rubbing and abrasive bar on it and i dont know if im using the right technique so ive only done it once. Also if you polish your car after claying aren't you removing more of your clear coat with that ozidized paint ??

          any tips on claying ?

All you have to do to clay is lube everything well, and slide your hand(with clay under it) across the paint. No heavy pressure, just wipe your hand across. Dont be afraid to use a whole QD bottle if you have to to keep it well lubed. There is really no other technique.

DO paint first, then glas, then trim, then wheels.

If you touch the paint with a feather, some molecules of paint will be removed. One you have any swirls removed in your paint, you can switch to a mild cleaner like DC#1, a pure polish like DC#2, and a pure wax. That way you will be using the mildest products possible.

BTW, dont confuse other product lines with Meguiars. Meguiars pure polishes will not remove paint. Even a mild cleaner like DC#1 is non-abrasive and will not remove any swirls. More abrasive cleaners, like ColorX and ScratchX are needed to really remove scratches.

BTW, cut the bar of clay up into 3 or 4 pieces as well, incase you drop any. If you drop a pieice, throw it out.

Will ColorX reduce swirls better than DC#1?

Yes. ColorX contains both diminishing abrasives and chemical cleaners while Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner is a chemical cleaner only.

Then ScratchX would perform better than ColorX?

Yes, ScratchX will remove swirls better than ColorX.

Remember ScratchX is a cleaner only, so polish and wax are still needed.
