  • What products do you suggest?

I just my dad's car (porsche cayenne) detailed by joe at superior shine and the results were magnificent! after seeing him detail the car with meguiar's products, I decided to change my detailing products to meguiars!

I have a 2004 Carbon Black M3 (metallic dark navy blue) that I detail with zaino products and microfabric towels and waffle sheet for drying. I sheet off water before i dry too.

After a year, however, there are a few light swirls on the clearcoat but no deep scratches, at least i don't think. i am inexperienced with PCs and buffers so i'd like to stay away from machine detailing and stick with elbow grease.

With this said, I was wondering what line of meguiars would you guys suggest from wash to detail to sealant? Pro-line? NXT? I'd like something thats dureable and gives a show car shine. I dont mind the work or multiprocesses, i just want a superior show car shine!

    Thanks!

Here is what I would do.

You said light swirls and by hand.

1a. Clean your Wheels with the Hot Rims All-Wheel Cleaner. It is safe for yoru wheels without you having to know what type you have. Shake the container as directed. Spray your wheels with water, then with the Hot Rims, then agitate with a brush i.e. a wheel brush or even a toothbrush. Finally rinse with a strong stream of water. You should rince within 15 seconds according to the directions, but I belive I had it on my wheels for 30 to 45 seconds because I am slow. My results were perfect.

You should also clean the wheel wells. With someing like Meguiar's Extra. Maybe the wheel cleaner. DO NOT use the wash mitt you will use on your car to clean wheels, tires, the engine, or your car.

    1. Get 2 buckets and either place a grit gaurd on the bottom of both, or something in it so the mitt doesn't touch the bottom.

Fill one bucket with water for rinsing the mitt, and the other with either Gold Class or Nxt.

Get a new or very clean Chinnelle wash mitt to avoid scratches, and some Ultra Plush Terry, and some Water Magnet towles.

    Rinse and wash well...

    2. Clay with Quik Clay using Quik Detailer (included) as the lubricant. Rule of thumb is break the clay into 2 to 3 pieces, roll into ball and make it into a pancake shape. Spray the clay and your car's finish with Quik Detailer to keep it well lubricated then rub the clay back and forth. You will feel it working and when the surface becomes smooth. Always keep the surface wet with Quik Detailer.

Use a Supreme Shine Micro Fiber to clean up any residue.

    3. Next, Clean your paint with ScratchX if you want to remove swirls. If not, use Deep Crystal Step #1.

If using ScratchX, you will need to really work it with a lot of elbow greese.

    4. Use a polish like Deep Crystal Step #2 to polish your car.

    5. Finally, Wax your car with Nxt Tech Wax Liquid or paste. This is easiest accomplished with the Even Coat Applicator. You will find the Supreme Shine Microfiber is the easiest way to remove the wax, but the Terry will work okay too.

    6. Clean your Widnows with the Duo-Fiber Micro Fiber and the Nxt Glass Cleaner. Use a clean side and spray the widnows... .wipe it around until clean. Flip to the now cleaner, dry side and remove all streaks and leave the windows completely dry.

    7. Useing Quik Detailer, clean up any water spots that appear on the wax. For example, if some water dropplets run down from the mirror you can use Quik Detailer and the Supreme Microfiber to take car of the problem.

    8. Finally, apply your favorite Tire Dressing. Nxt has 2 good tire products in a spray can. Can't tell you what they are called though.
    _____________

    Vaccuum inside.

    Use the carpet cleaner.

Use the leather cleaner and then conditioner on leather.

Use Quik Interior Detailer. I also like Nxt Tech Protect and Cockpit Shine.

If you have odors, use the odor removal stuff too.

Use a brush to remove any loose hair...

    __________

Engine is easily cleaned with Extra. Just spray it on sealed things. Don't spray it on sprak plugs or wires, don't spray it on distributor... and don't spray a lot. Just spray it on and wipe it off. It takes very little.

Next, you cause use something like the Insane Shine on the hoses. Check with Meguiar's to make sure you choose something that is a protectant and not corosive. Spray some on the hoses to protect them from acids, greases...

Congratulations, your results should now be close to Joe's

Just to add on to what JBirk said-

After the ScratchX, you can still use DC1 to further clean the paint.

Try not to get any liquid on the paint until the wax has cured for at least 12 hrs. You may have to use it sooner (This last time I waxed my car, about 6 hrs after the 2nd coat, I had to use Speed Detailer because somehow I got dirty water on the side of my car.) This will not remove the wax, but it could weaken it a bit. There shouldn't be any water on the paint after you wax it anyways...

For the tires, there are a lot of choices:
#38, NXT Insane Shine, Endurance, Hot Shine, etc...

for the pc, u shouldnt be afraid to use it, its really simple to use, very forgiving and would save u tons of time and effort.... u really should give it a try if u got the cash... u wont regret it and it'll give ur whole finish a more even look because the pc would apply polishs and waxs in a more even manner than if u were to do it by hand

Yes, Nxt is a very new cutting edge serries. Very good protection based on advanced Synthetic Polymers.

Gold Class is more of yesterday's products taken above todays calling. Think of a wax and polish all in one for instance.... think no further than Gold Class. These products made Meguiar's IMO.

Pro Serries is body shop safe. Meaning the polish, cleaners, ... don't contain any kinds of sealants. Typically the pro stuff has a number and comes in larger quantities. It is more cost effective too.

All serries are good. I recomend the Pro Serries for stuff you apply with a machine. For instance, #80, #83 are excellent.

Nxt Tech is great for anyone wanting to protect their car and use the leading produts.

Gold Class is fantastic because it has the products that really made Meguiar's stand out. For instance, Quik Detailer, Quik Clay, Gold Class Wash, and Quik Interrior Detailer.

All Meguiar's Products are typically compatible with each other. Buy what you want to buy. You can mix and match.
