  • PC in Australia

Hey Guys, just wondering if there is another similar machine as the P.C that i can get in Australia. Dont want a rotary but P.C would be a good option. If anyone has an idea of what/how much etc would be a great help

    Thanks in advance

There is the Makita BO6040, which is a 150mm and suitable for use with pads that have a 6" loop surface. That means a 7" pad would be minimum, and could be difficult to center perfectly while avoiding the backing plate from cutting into the foam section.

This Makita has a random orbit mode as well as a random orbit with force rotation, like the PC. Makita is not cheap though.

I use a Bosch PEX 400 AE, which has a 125mm (5") plate and works just nicely with the 7" pads. It does not have forced rotation and therefore will not be as aggressive as the makita. It's also much cheaper than the Makita. I paid AU$149 for the Bosch. With the Makita, you might be looking at onwards of AU$300.

Another popular random orbital sander is the Hitachi FSV 13Y. It's about AU$170~.

Not many of the RO sanders here have the long design of the PC, as they are mainly for woodwork use.

The easiest place to find them is at Hardwarehouse (Bunning's) but it is not the cheapest place. Check out your local hardware shop under the woodwork section.

No problem. If you are wanting to repair swirls and scratches, you'd be better off with a random orbital with forced rotation. I used the Bosch on my friend's neglected MX-5, took out the swirls but not the shallow scratches.
