  • I finally believe......

I finally believe in the clay system. I just recently bought a '66 Nova II, and the paint is about two years old and looked pretty good. I was always afraid of the clay system...thought I would scratch the paint. Well, I used it for the first time on Sunday and what a difference. I used plenty of lubricant, then I used Deep Crystal Polish and finished with NXT wax. I am impressed. This paint looks awesome.
My question now is: How often can I wax? Is there such a thing as too much or too often? I am actually ready to hit it again today with the NXT, but only if it makes sense. Before I started with everything on Sunday....I washed to car with dish soap in hopes to strip any "old" wax off the car. I don't drive it very often (garage kept) but I want the wax to be "enough"...so how often should I wax?

    Oldschl,

This comes up a lot on here and I use to wonder this myself until I read a bunch of opinions and needed to decide what I wanted from there.

    Bottom line to your Q's:

You can wax anytime you feel like it IMO. There is nothing like that just waxed look. Some people do it every month to two months but depends on weather and frequency of car washes and stuff. My wax routine of lately on Friday's of every week, is to crank the radio, have a couple of beers and wax inside my garage. And I feel that the more often I do wax, the easier it is to do it. And if I miss a spot, no big deal cuz I will most likely catch it the following week.

As far as NXT. I just started using this stuff and it does what they all brag about on here. And, when you put two coats on within 24 hours (NXT needs time to cure between 1st and 2nd coat), it really does shine like mad. So, I love NXT now. I use to use Gold Classic but now found my new wax
    .

DO NOT USE DISH SOAP on your vehicle. I think if you pop around this site, you will find it actually ruins your finish. A long time ago, I too did use Dish Soap and I could see how it dulled up the paint. I am not sure if you actually need to "Strip the old Wax" off. But it might be good to use Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (Step 1) sometime. But if you feel you need to, that should remove the wax and clean your paint too.

Sorry for the long winded response. I can never answer anything without using 500 words. Well, that's what my wife tells me anyways. I hope this answered some of your Q's and good luck and let it shine.
