    Hi bambam282,

I'm pretty sure the clay bar in the Mother's kit is the same size as ours. Just take and tear it into two pieces and store each peice in it's own zip-lock baggie. You don't need a huge peice to clay your car, just a contaminant free piece.

Use the clay bar until your common sense tells you by looking at it that it looks to dirty to continue to use. If you ever drop it, throw it away as it's not worth all the time, trouble, energy and money it will take if you should happen to pick up a little abrasive particle into the clay bar and then instill scratches into your car's finish.

first split your clay into 3-4 peices. You can use each peice of clay however long it stays good. When it starts to take any grit at all throw it away. When you drop the clay throw it away. out of 1 bar of clay I usually get about 10-20 cars done.

If you have any defects to take care of, post-claying would be a good time to do it. A pre-wax cleaner at a minimum is a good idea before you wax or seal your vehicle's finish.

Yes it is always a good idea to add a coat of wax after claying....

If you want to take is a little farther you could add some additional steps. Clay/Cleaner/Polish/Wax

            EDIT: travisdecpn you are quick!

Just FYI, at least around here.. The Mothers clay bar comes with a detailer and a cleaner/wax. This 'combo' box actualy has a smaller bar of clay in it i believe. I went with the ClayMagic for this reason, to get a bit bigger bar.

And like travis and gb387 said, the full process will give best results, which is:
              Wash
              Clay
              Clean
              Polish
              Wax

I am not sure, but what I do is break a bar into 3 pieces and use one piece per vehicle.

When I am done, I throw out the contaminated piece. If unsure, use a different piece.

When you say dirty, did you use like both sides of the bar, until they became quite dirty? Did you fold the clay over, or in on itself, like playdoh, to expose clean clay?

If not, then you can fold it over to expose clean clay, and get more use.

If you have been, and after a few folds, the clay is dirty al lthe way thorugh, then it needs thrown out.

Most times a clay bar will last at least 3 cars. But if it was very dirty starting off, or a bigger vehicle, then you may only get one use.

Just to clear up what I said earlier, I chose Clay Magic becasue I could not get Quick CLay, and they are the same size bar. The Mothers combo box has the smaller clay bar, and costs at least $8 more.

The bar in the Mother s kit is 80gm. That's a pretty common size.

                        Hello everyone,

The only thing I would add is that I use a sealer inbetween the polish & wax stages.............just a thought
