    Hi

    Greetings from England.

Im after some advice if possible, Ive been reading about all the Meguiars products and ive decided to give them try to see what results I can achieve.

I have no pictures of my car to show you what kind of condition the paint is but I will post pics later tomorrow so you can all see. I have a shiney red E36 BMW 325i (1992) Paint it very shiney to look at and in good shape for its age, it does have alot of swirl marks that are noticeable in bright sunshine and under certain lighting (steet lights and petrol station lights etc) Now im sure I have inflicted these marks myself over the past 12 months or so by not washing and drying correctly.

I have washed/dryed and clayed my front bonnet, or hood as you would put it and is has come up very smooth after using the clay, I have then proceeded to use Scratch X applied with a Meguiars applicator. Now ive done my entire front bonnet for almost 2 hours giving it some "passion" then used Deep Crystal Polish (2)
and then used Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine as I did not have the funds to stretch to buy some Nxt Wax but this will be the next purchase.

The swirls have got better but its by know means perfect, they are not deep scrathes as you can only see them in direct sunlight, and you cannot feel them with your fingertips.

Is the next step to by a Dual Action Polisher?, what products do i try to use etc, any help will be appreciated and I will try to post a good pic as soon as I can to show you the problem in question.

    Many thanks
    Andy

Well, it sounds like enough time/energy could get rid of the swirls with ScratchX. A terry cloth applicator can add a little more bite to the product, if you feel like trying again.

After that, the PC is your next step to really get great results.

I did use a terry cloth for the last hour, and it did remove alot of paint, by the end of it the cloth was just thick with red paint.

I found it difficult to remove the Scratch X, I used abit of quik detailer spray which did help in when taking off the Scratch x. I take it by using a PC does it really improve the results, just want to know if I can get a swirl free finish.

        Hi Andy.......Welcome to the forum!

The G-100 (dual action polisher) should be able to help you here.

I would suggest #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish along with Meguiar's W-8006 Foam Polishing Pad to remove the remainder of your swirls.

There's a lot of other products that you can use with the G-100 too, but the above combo is very popular for swirl removal.

          Hi Andy,

I'm newish here aswell and in the same neck of the woods (Scotland)...........I won't offer you any advice but I will say the advice you get here is second to none, follow that advice and your car's paintwork will look better than you could ever have hoped for and I found because the results are soooo good it's almost theraputic and I really enjoy detailing the car now

Ideal, thanks for the replies, so if I buy the Dual Action Polisher along the the 83 Cleaner Polish and W-8006 Foam Polishing Pad, I start by using this, then what would be the next step (product wise)

Does the W-8006 Polishing pad do all things, apply 83 Cleaner Polish right up to applying Nxt Waxs?, I take it you use a seperate foam pad to apply different products?

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Well, that depends on how much gloss and depth you want from your car's paint.

It wouldn't hurt to to go straight to a wax from this point, or you could do a little more polishing with #80 Speed Glaze

              or #82 Swirl Free Polish

              #82 Swirl Free Polish

Both of these products are polish rich, and can really add extra gloss to the finish.

The W-8006 is a real workhorse of a pad, and it is the pad of choice for all of the products that I mentioned above.......But always use a separate pad for each product.

As for applying NXT, or some other kind of LSP (last step product), it's best to use a Meguiar's W-9006 foam finishing pad

By using this system of products along with the G-100, you can create a show car shine that is second to none!

Thanks for the info, just read all those related topics, my paint condition is like the red ferrari, looks good in the shade or early evening sunset, but in the direct midday sun not so good. hopefully after purchasing the G100 polisher and the appropriate products ill be pleased with the result.

On a slighty different note, when I applied my waxs tonight it was extremly hard to remove, think the temperature was getting too cold, its sort of created clouds instead of a clear finish, Hopefully next time round this wont happen.
