  • Help needed.

    Ok, I need some help.

I'm preparing to detail the car next week while on vacation. I don't own a DA or rotary polisher, I own a 10" orbital buffer, and have done lots of wax jobs by hand.

I have some nasty swirl marks (see pics below), and some scratches that I would like to remove. Also have lots of surface contamination. Not sure what polish I should use. This is my plan.

    1. Clay bar
    2. Polish (which one, #9, #80, #81, or Scratch X???)
    3. Two coats Gold Class Wax

If anyone could recommend the proper polish. I will be applying by hand or with orbital buffer.

    Thanks!!

I know if you don't have a PC it will be hard to remove scratches and swirl's. You could try to remove it with ScratchX.

    You could try this polish.

ScratchX is not a polish, but I would use it in conjuction with #9 and the orbital to help try and remove some scratches with.

SX by hand, and #9/orbital combo.

The polish that chevyman mentioned above is a good choice for a pure polish, after you have used SX and #9.

        Hi Hammer3.8

Because you're using an orbital polisher, your best chance at good results will be to use Meguiar's ScratchX with your polisher and work each section for a long time, or apply it by hand.

After that follow with some Deep Crystal Polish and then go to wax. Here are some links to help you...

OK, you recommend DC#2, should I be using DC#3 also, or am I ok with Gold Class Wax?

I just thought I would get better results from the professional line of products?

Should I use DC #1 after the scratch X also to remove more swirls and stuff?

I was leaning toward SX, then #80, then Gold Class.

          Cheers!

            Gold Class is fine.

DC #1 is a good followup to SX........But so is #80.

Maybe you could do a side by side comparison of the two sets of products, and see which one you like best.
