  • Can clay damage paint?

-Can more aggressive clay damage the paint?
-Why are there different levels of aggressiveness?
-If the "aggressive" clay is used should it be followed up by the "mild" clay?

I understand (and agree with) the whole Meguiar's philosophy of using the least aggressive product possible. But it seems to me that claying is "non invasive" and that a more aggressive clay therefore would not be detrimental.

    Your thoughts please....

    Hey,

For the vast majority of people, using the Quik Clay, or the Mild Clay in the Professional series, will do the job very well.

However, in some cases like heavy overspray or industrial contaminents etc, a more aggressive clay may be required. However, the aggressive clay can mark the finish. As such, a body shop may use the aggressive clay as they will most likely be using a rotary afterwards to buff-out the finish.

Again, in most cases, the mild or the Quik Clay is all that is required, IMHO!
