Hello everybody. I am new to this forum, And this is my First post. I bought a 1997 Chev 1500 2x4 with a 170K on it. The truck had one owner since new. Im not sure if it was ever waxed or anything. When I got the truck in march The first thing I did was give it a good washing and Put 2 coats of Mother Cali Gold Carbunuba Paste wax( since the salt trucks run here pretty much 24/7 in the winter time ) on ( Was all I had at the time ).
So now that it is summer time I can see the truck's condition well. I want to get it in the best shape possible. Body condition it self is Good. Except for a small patch or rest below the gas tank cover ( which will be fixed when I get the Cash to do so )
The truck due to its age has most the classic conditions has some Type 2 water stains on the hood and roof, some white paint over spray mostly on the passenger side front fender and door. Some swirls, scratchs and what appears to be some kind of stain/compound on the driver's side door approx 5''x5'' ( Looks the same as the side of the Black vette Mike had the great write up on )
So I am looking for help and information and answer's to some of my questions from the pro's here in the fourm. It's 1:20 AM Sat so I cant go and take some pictures at the moment to show the condition. But I will come day light.
1. I Plan on using ColorX To bring the paint back to life. Color X is a Cleaner mainly from what I gather, So it will not remove my scratchs and what not right? So next Questions
2. Which is the best Megs product to use? I am assuming the Scratch X?
3. The Coats of Wax on it now. Will this effect my first initial treatment which ever it may be?
4. How dirty should the Clay Bar be before I fold it over fresh, I've Notice'd in Mike's Write up on ColorX on the Bronco It was pretty dirty. Im sure thats what Im looking at with this truck.
5. The Megs Vinyl cleaner, The floor of these trucks is rubber/vinyl material, is megs cleaner Slippery, When I bought the truck it by the feel had armour all over everything and when I jumped in I was to the passenger door before I could get slow'd down.
6. Which is my final question I think
Which order should I follow?
1.Wash and Dry
2.Clay
3. Color X?
4. Scratch X?
5. NXT
Would that be the right order to follow?
Anything that I should know. Please fill me in. More steps, other products, tips, tech's I know Im asking a lot of questions. But Ive read a lot of forums here and I can tell everybody is very nice. I think that cover's everything for the moment. Im sure more will come to be after a while. Thank you everybody
