  • Tried Scratch x with no change just a light clouding. Any tips on how to do this?

So truck is brand new but its a lease and noticed after I washed it, with a grit guard as well this hairline scratch up the whole hood. You can't feel it at all. I tried scratch x on a small part and it left a light haze. I own ultimate polish, ultimate compound and scratch x. I do everything by hand as I do not know how to use a buffer. Is there anyway to fix this without going to a shop? In the picture the line inside the green is what it looked like and the blue is where it was attempted with scratch x.

Also if I wanted to just cover it up as it only shows in direct sunlight or led light would wax hide it or ceramic wax?

What type of applicator did you use? Foam or microfiber?

We do not have anything that would hide. Sometimes a microfiber applicator pad can leave a haze/cloudy look on a dark color. This can be easily remedied by applying again with a soft foam applicator pad. When applying a product like Scratch X 2.0 or Ultimate Compound by hand, more detailed instructions would be to work in a 1 square foot or so area at a time, clean & cool surface, hand flat, applying in circular overlapping motions, with moderate pressure, work in for about a minute, and wipe off. You can repeat this 4 or 5 times in a particular area, but do not expect to get much more defect removal after this amount of attempts. It is best to stop and step up to machine at this point or re-evaluate what it is going to take. Ideally you want to wipe off the product residue while it is still wet; a light wet film.

The scratch unfortunately looks fairly deep from your pictures.

Yea it’s not deep. I know this cause you can’t feel it. It does not snag or anything. So your saying buy a foam pad and use that instead of microfiber? I thought microfiber is safer? After ultimate compound would ultimate polish remove the haze as well?

also would the da tool you sell work better or could it cause more damage?

I'm getting a little mixed up. Please specify which tools/pads you would like us to compare. Thanks.
