I like ColorX all by itself; it works well, is easy to use and has a rich, glossy look.

Let's not forget that the advantage of the cleaner wax category is CONVENIENCE and TIME SAVED.

And when we talk about "aggressive", let's remember that were's talking about the differences among extremely mild products. I think I could use ColorX once a week for five years and never risk the clearcoat; it would be riskier to use nothing at all.

IMO, the great thing about CX is that because of that great look it will get you closer to the 100% deal than any other cleaner wax out there. You can maintain your car virtually forever with ColorX and proper technique. Wash weekly taking care to avoid swirling, and wax every 6 weeks or so.

There are just SO MANY ways to reach a beautiful long lasting finish!

How do you apply CX Tom?

      By hand or machine?

        Hey,

Just to add about Meg's ColorX...

I have to admit, that even with all of the detailing products I have, I am often surprised how often I reach for a bottle of ColorX! I have used it on RV's, fiberglass, paint, etc... and it continues to impress me a lot!

        Hey RB,

Until Tom posts back, I use it with the PC and a W-8006 pad. I have tried it with the rotary but found that it dries a little too fast.

I've used the same combo above Tim, but CX tends to dry quicker than most other products......Would you agree?

I guess it's the nature of cleaner waxes.

            Hey RB,

I have not noticed it drying quicker per se compared to other products. But it does dry in an appropriate amount of time for the type of product it is. With a buffer this may cause a person to use a little more product, allowing greater working time.

I use ColorX by hand. If I were to use the PC, I'd use a finishing pad; IMO, it is the one that most approximates the foam applicator.

I'm in the Northeast, and using ColorX on cars that are kept outside. If I were in a milder environment, I might use a milder cleaner wax. And I wouldn't use ColorX for serious defect correction, obviously.

Working on good paint, ColorX gets me closer to the 100% look than any other cleaner wax. I take the finish as close as I can to maximum potential, and then maintain it with proper wash techique and occasional ColorX.

Edit: I have a Malibu picture with ColorX at home, I'll post it. The car's that nice mahogany color.

I too am in the Northeast and just want to try and keep my car as nice as possible realizing that it's somewhat of a losing battle against the elements here....but not a battle I'm willing to give up yet !!.....I'm excited because my better half (of 20 years next week!) has given me the green light on getting a G-100a from Mequiars...can't wait to get it and try it out .....thanks for all the great tips...
