UFF to prevent new exhaust system from rusting quickly?
UFF to prevent new exhaust system from rusting quickly?
Tried an experiment today after replacing the exhaust system. Sprayed it with UFF. Wonder if it will keep it from developing surface rust any quicker than it normally would.

" Sprayed it with UFF."

Just pointing out that the application method for Ultimate Fast Finish includes to spray onto the provided black microfiber application towel, Then to the finish.
UFF comes in an aerosol can, which uses a propellant to pressurize the can to expel product through the nozzle onto the towel.
Propane is the propellant for UFF.
I know that I would likely fire up as soon as possible to listen for rattles and yes, to hear the new sounds.
You are probably much smarter than I.
Hitting a hot exhaust with propane could result in "running around with hair on fire".
That's not always a good look.
So let's add this caution from the UFF box front label:
=== DANGER! EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE
LIQUID AND VAPOR. VAPORS MAY CAUSE
FLASHFIRE. CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE

Re: UFF to prevent new exhaust system from rusting quickly?
I don't think you would have any issues with it exploding because of the propane propellant, in my opinion. and it would be useless in protecting your exhaust system. I would think the system would get hot enough to gas off the UFF fairly quickly. Most replacement exhaust replacement systems are either galvanized or already has some rust protection, so you are probably wasting money using UFF on it. Good thought though. I am trying to determine some alternate use for my bottle of UFF as I am not a fan of the stuff for it's intended purpose.
Re: UFF to prevent new exhaust system from rusting quickly?
We do not recommend this application. We would also agree with other's comments that it will likely flash off very quickly due to the heat. Plus raw metal is not the same make up as a modern clear coat paint system.
