  • Car Cover

Does anyone have some Pros or Cons on the usage of a car cover.

I just bought a new car and it is Black.
It is garage kept and not used much.
It accumulates a lot of visible dust.
I have been using Quick detailer on a regular basis.
I thought maybe a car cover would be more practical???
    Any suggestions??

    Regards,
    Frankie

A high quality car cover for a truck as you have described sounds is a good option. Barry keeps his 1957 Chevy under a car cover here at Meguiar's and pretty much keeps his black 1957 dust free and ready to go when he is.

I think the problems most people have with car covers is when they use inexpensive car covers that are scratchy to start with, and use them outside where dirt accumulates under them and the wind blows causing the scratchy car cover and the dirt to scratch the finish.

Another option that I've seen a lot of people use over the years is to simply cover the flat horizontal areas with a soft flannel bed sheet, for example on a truck you could lay over over the hood, possibly a second one over the roof and windshield. Lay something like a clean rubber floor mat on top of the flannel cover and this will insure it doesn't slide off without causing any harm in and of itself.

Couple one of the ideas above with this and you'll have all the bases covered!

I regularly QD and/or dust my cars, before they are covered ( whether parked inside or outdoors) and it works like a charm in preventing any marring induced by friction between dirt on the finsh and the cover.
