  • preparing to do big detail

    So heres some background.

1997 Monte Carlo Black paints in good conditon. hood is spotted, trunk is spotted/swirled, front bumper is KINDA faded, and the roof is spotted. Here is what I have.

Meguiars Mirror Finish Soap (In the tan bottle)
    NXT
    3m Swirl Remover

I dont have one of those big fast buffers, the ones you get at home depot. ..just a 10'' handheld polisher. I have tried everything to get this car clean, but heres the things that it needs fixed:

    Bugs/Tar
    Swirls
    Spots on hood
    Wax between molding pieces.

What are the exact steps I should do to get the old waxes and such off, and what else do I need to buy to get this done?

I want this car to look brand new, and to get no streaks after I wax it.

    PLEASE hELP!

Bugs/Tar - some of that car wash and some good elbow grease

Swirls - depends on how bad they are. post pictures and we'll tell you

Spots on hood - from sprinklers or something? try claying the car

Well, after a good wash, I would clay the car. Then either ScratchX or that 3m swirl remover, depending on how good it is. Then polish and Nxt wax would be good.

You may need a good bug/tar product like the Meguiars Body Solvent. As for the stray wax, that will call for a good wash, and then a thin brush/towel to lift it out.
