  • Ultimate Protectant Dash & Trim.

Just been out going over my exterior plastic. I've used Concept vista (since 2011) Don't know if you guys have it or not. However the process putting it on is a bit time consuming. You have to tape everything so it dosent get on the paint etc etc.

So i've been looking at Ultimate Protectant Dash &Trim. Checked a "how to" video and it looked like there was no problem getting it on the paint? Looked super easy so doing this like once a month would be pure heaven compered to using Concept vista.

So shed me some light on this product. Getting it on paint is no problem?

I've used it before. It leaves the dash looking good but it doesn't last one month, maybe 2 weeks, also you have to remove it otherwise, it will happen the same thing that happens to tires when tire shine is not removed properly, they turn brown

Makes sense why, these tire and dash shines are made with silicone that's why they can claim it last that long

I wouldn't use it unless maybe for a date or a car show or something like that, if you want protection, just buy a windshield shade and tint your windows

Ultimate Black works pretty good on trim and monthly applications sounds about right with it. Prep is the key so cleaning the trim really well prior to applying ultimate black will make it bond better to the plastic. If some does get on the paint or glass simply wipe it off with a microfiber towel.

One thing I should mention is to give the exterior trim a light buff after letting ultimate black sitting for a few minutes to remove any excess product. This will help eliminate the product running on trim if say it gets wet in rain.

Is it worth it then? I use to clean exterior plastic with glass cleaner (that's how we do it in Sweden).

To be honest, this feels like a product for me. Read somewere, dont know were maybe here. But one guy put some ULW on top. That would be awsome since am about to do a 3 step thingy (UC, UP and last ULW).

I am not familiar with the product you are currently using so I can not tell you if it is worth it. But it could be what you are looking for.

Here in the states the trim is typically cleaned with an APC (all purpose cleaner). First time I hear glass cleaner being used as a trim cleaner. But if that works then stick with that.

You are correct the ULW will not stain trim. The paste version will stain trim.

I'll use it for sure We use glass cleaner because it leaves no residue, acts the same as Isopropyl alcohol. But a bottle of APC seems like a thingy i could have at home. Keep in mind, Meguiars products are not as cheap as they are in US A bottle costs $21 here, a bottle of glass cleaner 4 times less.

Concept vista is really great, once its there. Its the work getting it there. Will last 2-3 months whatever you do to it

My old car (once apply is enough

VISTA 500ml. For best results ensure Bumpers are clean and dry. Remove tab seal from container. Pick-up a small amount of Vista onto a sponge dressing applicator or brush. Wipe Bumpers ensuring even coverage.

Re: Ultimate Protectant Dash & Trim.

Just to clarify a few things here, the product you are referring to "Ultimate Protectant Dash & Trim Restorer" has a different name here in the US, we essentially have split the product into two offerings, one for exterior, "Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer", one of interior, " Ultimate Protectant Spray." All three have very similar chemistry.

What makes these products unique compared to other water based protectants is that they are engineered with some of our synthetic polymer technology. This allows for the product to bond to the material it is being applied to, making for great protection & durability.

Like others have mentioned, the prep work on the material prior to applying, especially when using for exterior non painted plastic trim, is helpful for best results. For exterior plastic trim, I like to use our M3916 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner along with a soft bristled brush for cleaning. Then apply to trim when it is clean & also completely dry. A soft foam applicator pad like our W0004 Soft Foam Applicator Pads work great for applying. A small amount goes a long way.

              Hope this helps

                Thank you for reply

Would you say that the "european" version versus the US version is equal? I mean you guys have one product specfic to exterior while we have an allround version. Checked with swedish meguiars they didnt have the "M3916 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner" which makes me believe that i am living in the wrong country for using Meguiars products.

Awell, guess i have to rethink and regroup!

Another option is our D101 All Purpose Cleaner Concentrate. Also really any mild all purpose cleaner will work if you need to deep clean exterior plastic trim.

GREAT! this is the product for me I saw i could buy the black sponges in Sweden. I buy them first and reuse the sponge for the bottle. APC is no problem in Sweden aswell.

                      Thank you for your replys!
