  • Wax On Fresh Paint!!! OOOPS

So I recently had to put my truck in the body shop and then a month later had put it back in to have some more work done. I got it out last time on a week ago. Well this morning I stop at my regular car wash on way home to rinse it off like I do every few days to get bugs off and just road grime. The stall I went in this morning ended up acting really weird and I believe it could possibly sprayed the wax on it. I went to another stall and washed off with the high pressure water. I know some say 30 days before wax and others say 60-90 I normally wait about 75-90 before I use any soap or anything with wax. With this being said should I worry about if there was wax sprayed on by accident on that fresh of paint ? Is there anything I can do or would the damage already have been done?

Just wash it again at the same car wash but make sure you don't use the wax. The detergents car washes use are harsh enough to break down the wax.

Then go protect it with M305

High pressure water is probably not a good idea for fresh paint.
I read that polish is OK for fresh paint, maybe you can try it. Also, if you are concerned about wax, how about Damn?

I'll make sure to tell my body shop to stop using a pressure washer...

It is fine. If it was going to lift it was going to lift after the paint out gasses too.

          Sorry. I meant Dawn.

It has been proven Dawn doesn't remove Wax, but leaves its own film behind that hides wax.

APC mixed with say HyperWash would be a better option.

The wax from the coin op is not that durable so I would not worry about it. Do what Das mentioned and mix a little APC into your wash. That should remove it given that the spray wax used is not durable.

High pressure is fine for fresh paint. I just had my car repainted and they high pressure washed it. The paint didn't fly off.

Save it for the dishes. It does nothing to remove a wax or sealant. Check out WaxMode on youtube as he put dawn to the test.

Really? I use Meguiars paint cleaner myself and did not try Dawn. I did read in this forum that it removed wax.
