  • Removing wax using a bonnet

I would imagine most of the old timers here might say to remove by hand, but I have to say I got much better results using a bonnet on my DA. I applied Megs UW by hand, then removed most by hand using a MF towel. I then followed up with a MF Bonnet on my DA with a Megs Backing plate and LC pad.

I was wondering though if I was removing too much wax by using a bonnet and leaving the car less protected than had I just worked by hand. Is there such a thing as removing too much wax ? How is this judged, if at all ?

    Thanks....

i actually started removing wax with my microfiber bonnet and thought the same thing right away so i stopped using it. i read u are only supposed to do a light buffing to remove especially on waxes that need to set up and cure. to me the da and bonnet is to powerful i just take things off lightly by hand now

I don't find a bonnet to be any quicker really. You still need to go back and remove tighter areas by hand. The bonnets fill up quickly and can leave residue behind.

Additionally I have towels softer than bonnets.
