  • White spot.. Haze?

    Hi guys,
I have slight problem. Initially i had some fine scratches near driver door and i used scratch X to remove it by hand. I followed that with Ultimate Black polish again by hand.

Panel looked beautiful at that moment, however one fine day im standing outside and all i see is like white patches of haze on the areas that i worked on.

I did work on scratch X longer than Ultimate Polish. Scratch X was rub rub rub rub and wipe. While Polish i just rubbed and wiped. Is it because of that?

Here is the image file to see what i am talking about

Ah, a black Coupe. I know that paint well. Yes, that's haze from rubbing the spot too much in one direction. Looks like the surface wasn't clean, but even if it was, you can haze easily by hand. The polish (Ultimate Polish?) should cover and smooth out most of it, if not all, so use more of that, in different directions, and make sure it's all clean. Follow with wax on the whole panel. If there's a different looking spot still there, then do the whole area or whole car with the polish, and it will probably match. Otherwise, the picture shows spiderwebs you probably won't be able to get by hand. What have you done to the finish overall so far?

yess lol!. Its the same exact car as the one in your DP. So when you say one direction what you mean? if im doing it counter clock wise i should switch to clockwise on second go? wouldnt that put more scratches on?

and nothing at all no proper maintenance to the paint man. Im the second owner. I just ordered GG 6inch random orbital so i was going to polish and wax down the whole car.
but right now i am more worried about the haze marks all over my car(spaces where i tried to remove scratches) hopefully i didnt do some permanent damage.. u think so?

Oh, it might have been a trick of the light. Looked like there were parallel haze lines from a back-and-forth rubbing. If circular, there's probably a hologram. Either way, it's unlikely you're doing actual damage. Our paint is very, very hard, so it will chip and haze, but is very difficult to work with in terms of actual correction with a DA on harder defects. That said, when you get the machine, you'll see how inconsequential that spot and other hand-work haze is to smooth over with UP (Ultimate Polish). As for compounding, Ultimate Compound (UC) might finish better than ScratchX. I've used both on the same paint (check my gallery for more pics, etc). You might actually do better to use the machine with UC first over the whole car, panel by panel, which will surprise you in how much grime comes off that the black paint is hiding. At that point, the haze spots will be long gone. Then follow with a slow polish and you'll be blown away with how much more awesome your paint will look
