I have a very clean car. I use WAWA to clean off the car every few drives.
It's perfect. Wipe on wipe off, and the car looks new. Towel just glides.
I barely even break a sweat and do the entire car in 15 mins. or less.
It's effortless.
Well, I tried to use WAWA (and even Ult.Quick/Det.) on my friend's car. Same car, same year.
He had just washed his car using a bucket and hose. So, the car was "clean".
I figured I would use it to remove some streaking wash marks, but it was a disaster.
The WAWA product would streak and smear. It would not wipe off.
It would be like dried wax where you need to scrub this heck out of if to get it off.
I spent 20 mins. on just the hood trying to wipe it clean. Towel did NOT glide. It was like so much more friction.
After a year of telling him how effortless rinse-less washing is, I looked like a fool.
One thing I tried, in frustration, was to hand compound a panel. Ult.Compound.
This seemed to work properly. Wipe on with wax pad, and then rub it in for a bit, then wipe off.
Unlike WAWA, the compound didn't stick and smear and the paint looked a LOT better. So, maybe his paint is tired and dirty? But it was just washed!
I didn't get a chance to try WAWA on a newly compounded panel, since it started to rain.
Again, his car was just washed and the WAWA would not come off without sticking and streaking.
Does WAWA only work with clean paint? Or rather, does it flop when the car is too dirty?
