  • Opinions requested for wax products.

I just bought a brand new Oxford white Ford Focus ST. Build date was 5/10/16. So it's not been out of the factory too long. However, it needed clay badly. No baggie test even needed, hand just kept sticking in spots. So I've washed and clayed it. Feels so much better! Now for the question, use meguiars white wax then ultimate wax, or meguiars ultimate polish then ultimate wax? On my wife's charcoal Infiniti, I've always used ultimate polish then ultimate wax. What you guys thinking? White wax or ultimate polish? Thanks in advance!

If you're used to using Ultimate polish/wax I'd do that. White wax doesn't have the cleaning power that the polish has anyway, and it's a new car so why not make it immaculate if you're doing the work.

First, I think you should test a couple of combos to see what looks good. Otherwise, we have no pictures to go on. UW is a polish-wax, and so using UP and then UW might possibly be too much (only you can judge that). I found this sometime ago with UP and Gold Class, also a polish wax. What I mean is there was too much of the oils. WW is a final wax, but I'm not sure you need that over the whole car. It may be that all you need is UW by itself. Again, test areas and checking it out fully will point you where you want to go. Post some pictures so we can help in more detail.

I'll try to post a pic or two after its all done. I've used UP and UW with my wife's dark car and liked the results. That's what I'm gonna do with my white car. I'd pry only switch to WW for my white car if it gets really dirty, as it's more of a cleaner wax.
