  • MF Pad cleaning & replacing on the job

    Hey,

I was wondering how frequently I need to change the MF pad for a new/fresh one when I'm doing a mid-size car?

    No compressed air available.

Currently I clean the pad after each session and once the section (door/fender or hood) is done I replace this with a fresh pad.

is this too much or could I do much more before switching to a fresh MF pad.

Use in combination with either M105, MagicOne or Scholl compound/polishes

    Thanks!

For me, I use a brush every few passes when the product builds up. I wash the whole set of MF pads together after a correction with a bit of detergent, vinegar, borax, and a drop of fabric softener. They come out good as new. The biggest issue I've noticed is that I have to carefully remove them from the backing plate, or the foam part will start to separate. Can't just tear them off.

I brush them out after each section cycle. I also wipe them off with a dedicated microfiber towel as needed to wipe the excess residue out of them.

The Buff & Shine pads I was sent to review only really needed the brush to come clean. The megs mf discs needed to be wiped off.

I go thought about two microfiber pads per car on a typical job.

Thanks for response, I'll try to that as well next time. I used to use around 5-6 per car as I could not really tell when the needed to be replaced with a fresh one.
