  • Undercarriage help

    Hi all!
Was wondering what everyone does to make the frame rails and undercarriage look perfect! (Off the showroom floor) I have a 07 jeep (doesn't go offroad I know I'm wierd) I took a washmit soap and a hose to the wheel wells last week and they look nice other than in the cracks and what not I didn't know what to spray on them because I don't want to deteriorate anything (bushings lines ect) I was going to spray some acid in a squirt bottle like they do in detail shops but didn't know if that was to abrasive???

Any help? I want it show room quality or as close as possible (I know I have to be somewhat realistic)

    Thanks in advanced!

    Re: Undercarriage help

It's not a Meguiar's product, but the best thing I've found is ArmourAll Tire Foam. It's a petroleum product spray that clears away dirt and soaks in oils, making everything look brand new until your next rain drive, lubricating and shining. It was meant to clean and shine tires, but I've found its true calling is for everything "underneath", to make things look new without being greasy or flat.

What's a good cleaner to knock majority of the road grime off? And is the armour all safe to use on all components?

A coin-op spray wash is really the only way, or a garden hose sprayer at home. When it's dry later, then coat everything with tire foam. It might take two cans. Let it dry again. If you avoid driving in the rain or mud, you won't have to do all this again for a long while. See my undercarriage thread linked in my sig for more.

You have a black car??? I have a black jeep looking to do a full correction and what not. Very minor water spots on the hood (just a handful) and light surface scratches, some swirls and spiderwebs. What do you recommend I use?

              Oh, that's a big question

I don't know what you're already using, but keeping it simple, a cleaner-wax with a machine polisher will probably take care of the spots. If not, a polish followed by the wax, and still if not, a compound followed by a polish followed by a wax. Alternatively, something like Scratch-X followed by a wax might work fine. Depends on how etched in the spots really are, what you already have, and what you're willing to buy, etc.

              Hope that helps!

Not a Meguiars product but I used this on my wheel wells.....maybe something you're looking for?
