  • Ultimate Polish and Dealer Installed Pinstriping

First off, thank you for those of you who gave my some positive feedback on the process I put together for my vehicle. It was highly suggested that I use ultimate polish after claying and before applying paint protect.

My question is, will using ultimate polish (hand polish) harm the dealer installed pinstriping on our new car? It's sort of in a tough place to avoid as there is a little room above it for error. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Hey there guys, I have been searching the internet like crazy for an answer to this question but I have yet to find a concrete one. Any expert opinion would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

If those pinstripes are not covered by clear coat layer then any product containing abrasives (Ultimate Polish has mild abrasives) will damage them.
Do a fingernail test: if you feel those pinstripes on top of your paint surface then they are not covered by paint (clear coat). In that case put a masking tape over them to avoid any damage during paint polish application.

Greg to the rescue again! Thanks for the information. I was thinking that might be the case as I already felt them and they were definitely applied over top of the paint while at the dealer. I will be sure to place some masking tape over them while using any sort of product with abrasives.

We would agree with Greg, we do not recommend the use of most typical products you would use for paint on vinyl stripes or vinyl wraps. Below is a link to a great article on the products we do approve for use on vinyl stripes or vinyl wraps:
