  • Help making decision, best option for bird poop.

My original intention on managing bird poop on my new car was to use UQD. This has been effective, however I seem to have severely underestimated the amount I'd use over time, so it seems that I'll need to refine this aspect of my routine.

It looks like M135 is the commercial bulk version of UQD correct? So that appears to be more economical cost-wise. However, part of the issue is that when I do the dropping I usually end up doing the whole panel too because of dust and pollen etc, because it looks weird having that one bright shiny spot.

So looking around some more I came across D115. Is this an appropriate choice for bird droppings and cleaning an entire panel of dust and pollen when I'm pressed for time and have no access to water? If so what would be the proper dilution? I keep a large stack of MF towels in my car regardless, so that's not an issue.

Or are there other, better options for this conundrum?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you're parking near a birdcage or tree nests, it shouldn't be that much work. UWWA/D115 is the key, and UWWA is very easy to find in stores. I spray it on and let it soak for a few seconds, then brush and wipe away. If there's a stain or cloudy spot left behind, I've learned to leave it alone, as it will (unbelievably) go away upon repeated GCQW quik-waxing, GC/UWW washing, etc. If not, the cloudy spot will disappear on my next machine correction. This assumes the bird poop landed within the last few hours, and has not baked in the sun for weeks on end, of course - if so, that's probably going to require an immediate spot-correction with the machine.

    Hope that helps

You are going to find out quickly (like I did) be it choose to go with M135 or D115, you will want to start buying it that way and not over the counter at Walmart, or where ever you are getting it in the little black bottles. Cost wise, and the amount you will find yourself using, just isn't cost prohibitive. I just quite a bit (M135) of it, and a gallon has lasted me a year.

Re: Help making decision, best option for bird poop.

We have a number of trees in our yard (it's a gorgeous oasis in an urban landscape-the birds obviously love it) and my employer is developing "green space" where I work which is also drastically increasing the number of birds. We're planning on building a car port in the next few weeks, but that's not a total fix obviously. And for some reason birds just really prefer this car. My old one never experienced this sort of bombing.

But since the carport will be more amelioration than fix, and the situation at work is almost guaranteed to get worse. Whichever I go with will be the bulk versions. I've gone through a small bottle in two weeks, and that's with rain in a few days cutting down the worst of it. I de-bomb first thing in the morning, before I drive off from work, and before bed.

Anyone know the appropriate dilution for the 155 for this use?

Oh, I see. Sounds beautiful. I'm not dealing with anywhere near that much bird dropping - probably some 5 splats this year. Bugs at speed are a bigger problem, but require a similar approach.

I haven't used 155, or anything diluted come to think of it, but it should be easy to test what works, or search the forum for dilutions. I once had a bottle of UWWA last almost a year, but now I use it more for full-car waterless-washing, and I get a good several months out of a bottle. Still, I agree, D115 and a spray bottle would be a wiser purchase, and its blueish color, rather than the white UWWA, would better match my D301 wax. Maybe on my next order.

Whoops, realized my typo, I was looking for the 115 NOT 155 dilution rates. I have seen anywhere for 1:4, 1:8 and 1:20.

And yeah, I have like 3-5 splats per each of the three times I clean.
