I just finished clay barring all the exterior glass a 2015 BMW 328i and there was definitely some roughness to the glass before when I wiped a towel across the surface. After claying, it was much smoother, but I didn't see any visible particles in the clay bar. I know that the bar worked, because of the smooth surface, but has anyone clayed without seeing anything? Could this have been an unusual contaminant on the glass?

Re: Has anyone clay barred their glass/paint with no visible contamination in the bar
I clay my windows from time to time.. If you have tinted windows you'll eventually notice contaminants in the form of little white specs on the glass. Claying removes those specs and leaves the glass smooth & clear.
