Detailing the Wife's Silver 2013 Escape...

Getting ready to detail my wife’s Sliver 2013 escape..

Step 3 I am a little unsure what type of surface prep I need before the final coats of wax

1. Wash with gold class wash I use a foam lance.
2. Clay
3. This is the step I am a little confused on should I go with a cleaner wax or a polish or both.
4. Ultimate liquid wax
5. Then quick wax after every wash.

The car is garaged except when she is at work. I have been applying 2 coats of Ultimate liquid wax yearly since it pulled off the lot.

1: Washing is a great first step!
2: Great 2nd step
3: It really depends on how bad the paint is. Seeing as you seem to have a gentle washing step and apply wax every so often, it sounds like you only need a light polish (Ultimate Polish to stick with the product line).
4: The ultimate wax will treat you right.
5: sounds like you have a decent maintenance routine down.

Agree with the UP. Good stuff. Are you using a DA or by hand? DA of course will yield the best results. Topping with UW and using a QW every other wash is good. Throw up some pics when you get done!

Same process I do. Don't thing I have applied wax with the DA yet, only polishing.

Nice day out side thought I would finally clay, polish and wax the wife's car.. Didn't turn out too bad.. Hopefully it wont rain for a while..

ULW applied by hand
Second coat of ULW will be applied today.. I wait 12 hours for the 2nd coat of ULW

Looks good! Good choice. Going to be doing our Venza soon. Have done a good job to keep any swirls out of it, but the wife has picked up some scracthes here and there so need to try and polish/compound those out.
