  • Any large Waffle Weave Microfiber drying towel recomendations?

    Hello All,
I'm looking to get a waffle weave drying towel for exterior drying. Do any of you have a preference or recommendation?

I'm currently considering Chemical Guys Gray Matter, Griots and Meguiars Water Magnet. I have no doubt the Meguiars is a quality towel but it is a little lower on my list do to a few reviews.

    Thanks,
    Ralph

The Meguiar's water magnet is nice. It tends to get harder as it gets used. Pick up a few. I have not used the chemical guys towel.

I just picked up the pluffle from the rag company to give that a try. It's a hybrid towel that looks interesting.

The new Griot's PFM towel is a winner. After a rinseless wash, I can dry my entire Black Lacrosse with one 16 X 16 inch towel. I have and use Meguiar's Water Magnets, but I just prefer the plusher Griot's on my black or dark cars.

If price isn't a problem, get the Griots PFM towel. PFM stands for Pure Freakin' Magic!

Thanks for all the quick replies!

Well, I saw the 16x16in Pluffle and was quite interested but the size was to small so I wrote it off. I didn't realize they made a large 20x40in one. Let me know what you think about it Guz.

          1) Can it be used in a wiping motion as well as the drag method? I may get a large one and a couple of the small ones for when I use a spray wax (Eagle One Wax-As-U-Dry). I like to drag the large ones when typical drying but I use a wiping motion when using a spray wax.
          2) Does it ring out easily?
          3) Can you dry an entire car with the large one without wringing it out?
          4) How good of a job does it do at leaving the surface dry?
          5) Lastly, does it easily glide across the surface or does it have a lot of resistance?

          ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went ahead and purchased the large Griots Waffle Weave Microfiber ($28.00) and a plush microfiber (no-name) to compare. The Griots did a great job of drying both my wife's car and my 4-runner. It just glided across the vehicle with ease.

There are a couple of minor things that I don't care for though.

          1. I do not like the hand pockets. It makes folding and using both sides of the towel more difficult.
          2. When it gets damp it's not as effective at drying the surface, which leads to the next issue.....
          3. It is difficult to ring out when the towel is only semi-wet. I would consider the PFM if I knew it was significantly superior to the orange one, despite it being quite expensive? I'm going to research the Pluffle further though.

Just FYI, I couldn't even dry with the no-name plush microfiber towel. It was dragging to the point I thought parts of it might come off. This was on a clayed, polished and waxed BMW to boot. It is a nice feeling towel but terrible for drying.

          God Bless,
          Ralph
