How do i keep my black car clean in a dusty enviorement

Hello,

I desperatley need a way to keep my black car clean. The enviorement is dusty as i live near a traffic heavy road. Even when the car is in the garage which is open from one side, dust accumulates on it.

I've recentley cleaned it using a compound, polish and sealed it with M21. I have the Meguiar's QD but i dont want to use it everyday as it's quite expensive in my country.

Please advise.

Moreover, is it advisable to wash down the car with just water and then clean it with a micro fibre? i wish i could post a pic to show you how bad the dust situation is. But for some reason i dont see the option. Dreading buying a black car.

Get a California Duster. Used correctly, it works wonders on dust, and won't scratch your car.

You might try to see if you can buy a QD in gallon sizes to save money. Meguiar's makes several QD products,
M34 Final Inspection
D144 Last Touch
M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer (my favorite)
A16 Quik Detailer At one time Meguiar's also was selling A16 Quik Detailer (in the red bottle) in 64 oz bottles. Not sure if that is still an option.

To control dust I use UQW after every wash or QD. It makes the surface much slicker so dust lifts off with a CalDuster very easily.

If you have any "car crazy" friends perhaps you can get together and buy a case of QD from your distributor at a discount.

You might also consider a soft car cover for when your car is not in use.

Thanks for your input. I'm using the UQD for removing dust..the problem is day to day maintenance. Is the M135 similar to M21?

Using a detailer every day can definitely get expensive. I'd look into D114 or D115 Rinseless wash products. With practice, you can do a rinseless wash almost as fast as a wipedown with a QD. Also, they're safer for your finish than a QD, reusable and requires fewer towels.

@Twincam14. You don't want to just rinse your car and wipe with a microfiber towel.. The reason is there will still be enough dirt on the surface and you'll scratch your paint without proper lubricant i.e. Quik Detailer/waterless wash etc.

For light dust a detail spray works. For heavier dust I would go with a waterless or rinseless wash.

Fighting dust can be a losing battle. Also the more the paint is touched, the possibility of swirls is increased.

Thank you @Eldorado2k...apologies for my lack of knowledge regarding such things. I assumed that with Meguiar's M21 applied, i would be able to do just that, rinse and wipe...I guess not.
