Paint Thickness Gauge (PTG) - which one

Hi,
I'm looking for good PTG (not expensive) but reliable enough to get good reading. In the following thread (Thursday Night June 18, 2015):

The team utilized PTG but I can't read what type. Could you please advice on good/realizable one.

Looks like a QNix 4500... prices online show it to be around $700

I too wouldn't mind getting a recommendation on an inexpensive option.
