  • Keyed Car

My daughter's car was keyed a few weeks ago. 2014 Honda Civic in coffee brown color. They got the drivers side front and rear doors, above the gas fill door and gouged the rear bumper. I had never used a DA polisher, thought would give it a shot. Used a PC with an orange pad and UC. I wish I had took some before and after pcs, but was unable to at the time. Needless to say, I was amazed at how well the car looked after few hours of polishing. My question now is that the rear door was too deep and the car is in the shop getting a repaint, how long do I have to wait before I do any polishing on that repair work if needed. Hopefully it will be flawless and not need any assistance, ( especially for what we are paying ).

Sorry to hear about the keying.

Compounding and polishing can be done after the repaint without an issue, just hold off on waxing for 60-90 days as the new paint will need to 'outgas'. Ask your painter for the best guide on a waxing timeframe. He will be able to give the best advice on this.

In the meantime, use deep crystal pure polish or M07 show car glaze while the repainted panel is still curing, avoid car washes with wax, stick with more traditional quick detailers (Last Touch is great, or use the original instant detailer)

What scum keys a car.. Its more than spiteful than trying to steal it. akin to spitting in someone's face.
