  • Gold class liquid and paste wax issue

I recently used the liquid wax on my car 2004 Mach 1 and 2011 fusion. And noticed that the next day, in a different light from the previous day, the paint seemed to have a splotchy look, you could see where the wax was. This also w as the first time I used a DA to apply it. But I have had this issue before but with the paste form. Also it was only.like this on the hoods of both cars and a few small spots here and there. Is this the heat from the engine? Was 87*

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

Also, 2 days after it has completely evened out, at least in the light it was in.

Maybe a quick detailer can even that unevenness, and yes, it could be the heat from the engine, the relative humidity or combination of both.

It sounds as though it may have been applied a bit too thick and/or wiped off too soon. Gold Class really should dry completely before removal, and a very thin coat is all that's needed. Dry time will depend on ambient temp and humidity, and how thick it's applied. Using the swipe test to judge when it's time to remove is key here.

I applied a thin coat, maybe I should be applying even less, by DA with a foam pad and did the finger swipe test.

The car looks great now, but next time I'll use even less.

Can the wax become too dry?

I've had the same problems with GC. It's a very "heavy" and oily liquid, very easy to over-apply in humidity or heat, and tempting to remove too soon as the oils won't dry well in humidity. In my case, I think using it after UP is also overkill on all the polishing oils, and I'd had a lot of trouble trying to remove it and buff out the clouds, especially on the hood, but it sure looked great on black! Now, I haven't tried it on MF rather than foam, so I suspect foam over-saturation with the thick Soft Buff pads I'd been using had something to do with it. So, yes, using like one teardrop per large panel is a gracious plenty, or you could prime the foam pad lightly and then use no more product for, like, the whole car

Ok lol so I guess I probably did use to much. I used probably 4 drops per panel, but I did not have any problem removing it, at least not like I have in the past when I did it by hand, and knew I used to much... if that makes sense haha

Maybe this can help, it's found in the How-to-articles: Sticky: How to apply a very thin coat of wax with a G110v2
