    product questions

    Is the VRP spray you spray on a clean engine, the same spray you use to finish up the interior?

    Is the Interior vrp spray the same as exterior vrp same as quik detailer same as multy purpose cleaner?

      But I didn't think that came in a spray? I thought it was lotion only...

        Do you mean APC ? or Super Degreaser? As they're really the only ones you should be using to clean up an engine.. With the latter being the most recommended.. Then followed up by some Hyper Dressing.

          So, as far as I know, for: detailing under the hood - you need a degreaser for the cleaning and then a engine protectant. For the interior, you need an "interior" all purpose cleaner/leather cleaner or VRP cleaner depending on the material and then a protectant. for the exterior, wash, clay, buff, polish and wax. My questions are: 1) Can you use the interior VRP protectant for the engine? Or are protectants specified as for interior or exterior usage. Does it depend on the brand or are there norms? 2) Is the exterior quik detailer bad for the interior (does it have wax in it)? I used the Meguiar's quik detailer inside, as a head board protectant, and I think it made it look white.. is that only supposed to be used for painted surfaces? So are multy purpose, VRP cleaners specific for interior or exterior, or can they be used for any surface? 3) Is there a protectant for interior and exterior un painted metals? Thank you for any help/advice regarding my questions.

            Still lost as to what VRP is and what product you are referring to? Are you referring to one of the many interior protectants (Natural Shine, Supreme Shine, Ultimate Protectant, New Car Scent Protectant, M40)?

              I meant "Vinyl, Rubber, Plastic" cleaners and protectants, in general. I am unable to format my text differently in this browser, and I am doing the best I can considering that English is not my main language.

                Ah ok. Did not know that. My fault.

                You can use APC diluted at 10:1 to clean vinyl, rubber and plastics. Many have done so. You can also use a product like M39 or for light dirt quik interior detailer works very well.

                Quick interior detailer will leave some UV protection behind. It is completely optional to use one of the interior protectants. They too have some light cleaning ability and will provide UV protection.

                There are some leather interiors that are vinyl and you can treat them like leather. You can use APC at 10:1 or a dedicated leather cleaner. It is completely optional to use a leather conditioner following the cleaning.

                For engine cleaning you can use APC or Super Degreaser to clean as much dirt as possible. If you want to dress the engine bay you have lots of options. You can use something like Hyper Dressing, D4510 Plastic & Vinyl Coating, Ultimate Black or even one of the interior protectants. They will all last a couple weeks maybe ultimate black lasting a little longer.

                I personally have never used a quick detailer on interior. I primarily use quik interior detailer.

                For unpainted metals you can use any dedicated sealant on them. If it is polished or aluminum perhaps use a metal polish to clean them and give them back some new life. Then seal them.

                  I agree with Guz, but I will add that I have used quick detailers on interior trim and they perform well.

                  (This is for interiors that are already in pretty good shape and just need a light cleaning.)

                    One thing that I forgot to mention is that I have used D156 spray wax on piano trim plastics. There is a video on youtube with a guy using D156 on the interior.

                        For engines a lot of people forget about the d171 water based dressing to. I read somewhere mr stoops recommended that as a great engine dressing. Just spray the entire engine while running shut the hood and 5 mins later it's all dried and looking great. Hyperdressing is another good one but I think he said the wbd was a better choice.
