  • M all purpose cleaner question

    Hi,

I intend to give my interior a proper detail, therefore mall purpose cleaner is the best choice, I would like to know if this is suitable in terms of removing any previously applies cheap shiny greasy sprays etc on the dashboard?

Re: M all purpose cleaner question

If you're talking about Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner (a retail product not available in the USA so we expect some MOL members to be a bit confused here) then yes indeed, it is both perfectly safe and highly effective at removing those less than desirable dressings from interior surfaces. We recommend spraying onto a folded microfiber towel and applying/working the product that way rather than spraying directly onto the surface. You just have far better control of the process, and a much more uniform distribution of product this way.

Now, if you're talking about our D101 APC in our Professional Detailer Line, then we recommend a 10:1 dilution ratio to start and a maximum strength of 4:1. For interior cleaning, even removal of those greasy feeling dressings, 10:1 should be more than sufficient. These products are generally water based and therefore not terribly difficult to remove so a powerful solution is rarely needed.

Wait, I could have sworn I saw the "M" line at either Autozone or Advance Auto last year. Is that something different?

sorry I meant this one, would using a brush to work in be more effective?, or using hot water?

Question directed at Michaell, First, is D101 suppose to foam, independent of the brand of spray bottle used, or do some bottles produce a better foaming action than others? Second, is the effectiveness of D101 dependent on the foaming action?
Clearly if your using the product on a MF cloth for cleaning an interior the question is moot. But my question are more relevant if you're using D101 as a tire cleaner.

Whoops. My bad, it was a product line from the "other" M guys. Sorry.

                Hi Ron,

Mike posted the above which should answer your question.

The All Purpose Cleaner you have should easily remove any other previously applied dressings in the way Mike has recommended. However if there are any particularly difficult spots still giving you trouble then a brush can be helpful to agitate the product and then wipe away the residue with a microfibre towel.

Just be careful not to scrub too hard or use a brush that might be too aggressive for the particular surface you're working on (and there can be a whole array of surfaces within an interior, some delicate, some quite rugged).
