  • how much wax is enough?

    hey guys

just curious, how much is enough wax?

im asking because today i applied carnuaba wax for the first time using a random orbital with the meguiars w008 polishing pad

seemed like it applied a thin amount.
let it sit for 15 mins, before buffin it off with a finishing pad on the random orb.

    would it be sufficient enough?
or should i go apply another layer of wax?

    thanks

two thin coats always beats one thick one.

Did you use a microfiber bonnet to remove it with?

Try using the finishing pad to apply the wax. Then remove it with a microfiber cloth or bonnet.

            Less than you think.

            That’s good.

It’s almost impossible to put wax on “too thin. What starts happening if you use too little wax is that you get uneven coverage so there are some areas that are fine and some that are missed. Try to put on as little as you can while still laying it down evenly.

To see if wax is ready for removal try the “Swipe Test.

I agree with the guys on the MF bonnet suggestion. They’re great.

Like the other pc said, the best amount is two thin coats... that makes sure you get even coverage. More than that is a bit of a waste I think. In my opinion, you are better off with 2 thin layers every 2-4 weeks, than 4 layers every 8 weeks, but thats just me.

15 minutes is enough time to let most wax dry to the touch.......Except for Medallion Premium Paint Protectant (MPPP).

I've had to wait 30 minutes to let it dry......Even in our hot, humid climate.

                Great stuff though.
