  • Does Quik Wax lubricate much?

Today I was about to use the quik wax on a area with light water spots - Normally, with detail spray, I wouldn't care about the spots as I know it has lubrication properties. Does the spray wax lubricate enough as well, or is it best practice to get rid of the spots with detail spray first? I went ahead and just used the spray wax, it didn't seem to feel, look, or sound like I was doing any damage...

    thanks

Technically, you should use a QD for that sort of thing.

However, I too have used QW in a pinch to remove VERY light dust and it has been fine.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Spray waxes don't really afford the sort of surface lubrication that quick detailers do, and so a QD spray is recommended when any sort of cleaning, no matter how light, is being done. About the only time you want to chase even light water spotting with a spray wax is immediately after washing the vehicle when those little drips of water fall from the mirrors, out from window trim, marker lights, etc. The surface is already clean and the water spots are very light and very fresh. A spray wax is fine then, and actually offers something for the paint that a quick detailer doesn't. We often people say how much they love our quick detailers, and that they use them right after washing their car. This always strikes us as a bit odd since QDs are designed to remove light dust and fingerprints, and you should have none of that immediately after washing and drying the car. That's the perfect time for a spray wax.
