  • Pad for DA polisher

I'm planning to get a cutting pad from Lake Country, but its a difficult choice between the Hydro Pad and the CCS
Has anyone here tried and compared the two on a porter cable?
    Would really appreciate suggestions..
    Thanks

    Re: Pad for DA polisher

    Hey gauravvi

My experience with these 2 pads are that both are great but just like any other pad especially on the compound/cleaning step you need to use at least 3 and sometimes 4 pads depending on the condition and dirtyness of the paint itself.

I've been using them for awhile now and when I first started using them, I found out that the CCS pads would break down over time faster then the Hydro Pads when just using a couple pads for aggressive compound/cleaning.

But I think since Meguiars has just come out with the DFC5 Cutting Disk, DFP5 Polishing Disk as well as the DFF5 Finishing Disk I think this would be a better choice. I know I'm switching back over to the Meguiars Pad/Disks now since there in 5''!! But you will need to get the specail Heavy Duty Backing Plate to go with them Part # DBP5. ( Very Important part of this Disk system that was designed to work together as one, if you will)

The Guz, posted this link up. ADS has these in stock and at a great price with a free Meguiars Hat!!!

I've used the orange ccs, and have wanted to try the cyan hydrotech.

The reviews I've read indicates that the closed cell hydrotech pad is very fragile, and fails very quickly. They've earned the nickname "hydroshred" by some users!

The ccs has been reliable, robust, and effective. I do believe that with my personal style of polishing, I would have great experiences with the cyan pad, and will be ordering them in the future.

The new 5" pads from Meguiar's have long been desired. I've used their pads since the late 90's on rotaries, and have always loved them. They will join my collection of Buff & Shine, Hex Logic, and Lake County pads.

I use the LC flat pads and they have always seemed to work well. You should consider the new Meguiar's pads.

          Re: Pad for DA polisher

We are extremely proud of our new thin foam discs for DA polishers and highly recommend you give them a go. We used the new 5" cutting disc, along with D300, at SEMA pulling 3000 grit sanding marks out of a Mercedes SLS AMG with ceramic clear paint and they worked like a charm. Super smooth, amazing cut and an even more amazing finish. I have personally used that cutting pad on pretty soft paint and it finished out shockingly well. So well, in fact, that I did three IPA wipe downs because I didn't quite believe it at first.
