  • Ultimate Polish to remove wax

    My question is:

    - Which Pad do I use with Ultimate Polish to remove wax but no correction is needed? Yellow or Black?

    - When I used to use Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (step 1), I got the Squeek test to work. I haven't heard any squeeking for some time since I stopped using Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner. Does it mean Ultimate Polish isn't removing wax?

If just trying to remove old wax with no correction, I would clay, then follow with UP on the black pad.

Thanks, how about APC ratio for a wipe down? I googled and somebody stated 20:1?

I have 2 APC bottles at the 2 recommended ratios 10:1 and 4:1.

I would do this and not worry about the APC wipedown.

Ding ding ding........ we have a winner!!!!

If the wax that you're trying to remove was applied a few months prior, odds are there just isn't much of it left. Therefore, claying and UP will remove the last of it and prep the paint for a fresh application.

As for the squeek test not giving you what you're used to hearing, that's mostly due to the polishing oils in UP preventing that squeek from happening. Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner did not have any polishing oils in it so it would better reveal that squeek. It's also why things like the squeek test, water beading, etc are not totally fool proof.
