Take a sanding block with 1500 and wet sand it flat (carefully). Then run over the area with 3000 grit and follow with compound and then polish. Are you working with a machine?

1500, 2000, then 3000 if working by hand. I recommend wrapping the sand paper over a wet sponge when doing touch up work. Using a machine to sand is a little different. If by machine you can jump from 1500 to 3000. Inspect your work often between sanding until you get the desired result. Then compound, then polish. If using a DA polisher to remove sanding scratches expect to make 12+ passes to completely remove all the scratches. If your using a rotary buffer with a wool pad you probably only need to make 3 - 6 passes.
