  • Question about UPW

Have a couple of coats of UPW on my car. Looking to add another. Now, I've used some gold class spray wax lately. Any issue with putting a fresh coat of UPW on after a wash this weekend? Thanks.

    Re: Question about UPW

2 coats is more than enough for UPW or any wax for that matter. Adding more than 2 will not add any more protection. Search on the law of diminishing returns for a good read. I can only see you adding another coat if it's time for your next polishing session. UPW should give you around 4-6 months of durability with proper maintenace. I would recommend to maintain UPW with a spray wax such as gold class or ultimate quik wax.

      Re: Question about UPW

Very aware of the layering thoughts. I'm coming up on three months since my application of UPW, so it's time to "freshen up." Thanks. You answered the question, I believe, in that UPW should have no problem going over UQW or cg spray wax.

        Re: Question about UPW

Well in that case go for it. The effects of GC spray wax are short lived. Another option is to use ultimate polish or a cleaner wax like black wax or white wax followed by UPW. That way you know the paint is completely clean. Don't forget to clay if needed. Use the baggiie test to determine that.

No worries at all in this scenario. Go ahead and reapply UPW without doing any further prep (unless claying is called for, of course!).

Thanks all! Love that Meg's products are not too pick in what they go over. Awesome!

              Re: Question about UPW

Is it okay to apply Ultimate Paste Wax after washing the car using Ultimate Wash & Wax? Or is it no longer needed?

                Re: Question about UPW

The effects of the wax from ultimate wash and wax will not last as long as ultimate wax. I think you would be ok to wax right over it as all Meguiar's products are intended to work with each other.
