Will #82 and a W9000 pad on a rotary at a slow speed remove light scratches, medium swirls, and holograms on a black corvette, or would the W8000 pad be a better choice? Would I also be better of first trying the DA polisher before going with the rotary to remove these defects?

#82 and a W9000 Pad on a Rotary

Hey dragon,
Welcome to Meguiar's Online!
Well...it depends on your experience with the rotary buffer. In most cases, I would suggest starting with the DA using #80 Speed Glaze with a W-8006 Polishing pad. If that does not do it, I would move on to #83 DACP with the DA.
But with the rotary, if you have medium swirls, I would use the W-8000 Polishing Pad (rotary spinning ~1300 RPM)as Meg's #82 Swirl Free Polish is quite mild. You may be better off using #80 Speed Glaze, which has a little more bite, with the W-9000/9006 Finishing Pad. The #80/W-9006/rotary combo is the one I use the majority of the time!
I sometimes, depending on the paint's hardness, use the rotary (~1300 RPM), #82 with the W-9000/9006 Finishing Pad, for the final polish.
Cheers!
Tim

Thanks, I appreciate your comments! I don't know if this means my paint is hard or soft.....but just touching my car will put fine scratches & hairlines in the paint.
I have all 3 of the Meguiar's pads on hand as well as the #82 Polish, Scratch-X, and 2.0 Swirl Remover, so maybe I'll see what happens with the #82 and the 8006 pad for starters, and then get hold of some #80 and #83 this week too. I also have some Menzerna Intensive Polish & 3M Fine Cut but that stuff is supposed to be pretty strong from what I hear.
