Hey guys , just broke Into detailing for dollars , done fine work for friends , I am a whiz with the da and a beginner at the rotary , anyway starting to get referrals , I just do paint as of now , my first stranger is inquiring about a dark 2014 Jetta , I haven't seen it yet but can only assume he doesn't need correction , about how many HOURS to charge for just , wash , clay , tape trim , Meg's 205 or pure polish ( depending on condition) and sealant x2 , I don't put a price on rims and tires as I just spray and wipe them and dress trim with an all season gloss. Oh yea , no insurance or biz # yet just out of my garage ( looking to change that if there is a need ). I'm in canada so it's a summer side-gig. Soo Hours? just a ball park on how long an average person would charge for, i know seeing it is key but I'm looking for an idea to compare. I was thinking 5-6 for the non correction and 8-10 for the correction depending on swirls.

Re: consensus on working time for '14 jetta
Tough to say how long a detail will take, depending on the condition of the paint and what the client expects. Just give him an amount per hour (say.. $25-$35) and cap it at the maximum amount of hours you think the detail will take. So if you think it could take as long as 10 hours, cap the amount at $250-$350 and tell your client it won't go over that amount, even if you have to throw in an extra hour or two. If you come in under your estimated max, credit your client with the difference. You will get him back as a repeat customer.
