  • Question regarding 2008 BMW 550i

I detailed a 550i this past weekend. The door windows are separated by posts, one on each door. I wanted to use Ultimate Black to bring them back to life but chickened out for fear that they were painted. Does any one know if the posts are plastic? Has anyone tried UB on them and if so what were the results? Thanks.

    Are they shiny, or matte?

The shiny ones are often plastic and can be gently polished with a mild polish or cleaner/wax.

If they are a matte, rubbery type material, you could use UB.

The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

^ Yep, that's the answer, plain and simple.

You know, I've got the shinny ones on my 2001 black Lexus and I do buff them and apply wax. It never last very long. The ones on the BMW make you think they are plastic when you tap on them with your knuckle but they look like a faded matte finish on say...aluminum. I'm guessing they I could make them look good with UB but if it is not plastic then I doubt it would adhere to the finish. Just my guess.

Nope. I detailed it last weekend. It as one of those jobs that you wish you had another 3 hours to devote to it but couldn't. It's just one of those little things that's bugging me. Thanks.
