  • orbital buffer/andom orbit buffer/polisher..plus dry and QD/QW at the same time

My father in law just give me a 10 inch orbital buffer and I just found out that my son have a 6 in random orbit buffer/polisher that he left in the storage shed when he moved out. From reading the many post on the site, it look as both of these tool are good for a noob (like me). They just will not remove any swirls mark but is good for polish and wax.I'm guess it will also be good to remove wax also. I'm swirl free as of now. The question is what bonnet would l use to lay the polish and wax down? An which bonnet would I use to take it off with? An do you take it off the same way you lay it down? Or is it better to remove by hand? This may be the wrong thread but I have to ask this..I saw some where in a tread about you can QD or QW while you dry. Do you use the same MF towel while you do this? An if so do you go over it with a MF detail towel to buffer it up? Please help as you can see I'm a noob and just don't want to visit a paint shop.If any of my question sound dumb please don't laugh at me I just don't know. Thanks all in advance.

The orbital buffers are ok for spreading wax or polish. As you said, you can't really get any correction from them.

You would generally want to use a foam pad to apply and a MF pad or bonnet to remove. Most people prefer to remove by hand though. It should be easy as long as you don't use too much product. Also, those MF bonnets can clog up easily and become ineffective. Unless you have several bonnets?

You would usually use a QW as you dry, although you can use a QD too. Firstly, sheet the water off the surface when you're doing the final rinse of the car. This will minimise the water left on the surface.

You then literally apply a couple of sprays of QW (UQW is great for this) to a wet panel, and dry with a waffle weave towel as you normally would. When you've dried a panel, go over it again with another clean, soft MF towel.

So it takes slightly longer than drying it normally, but still way quicker than doing two separate steps.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Thanks Davey g-force going to apply with machine and remove by hand...if not by hand I know I will need to pick up about 5 mf bonnets to remove wax. Will try the dry and UQW method in the coming days.thanks again
