Thanks for the tip, will just have to hope I don't get sprayed then. I don't have access to a hose (apartment dweller), and the sprinklers are set to go off early in the morning (3-4 AM usually). I don't see myself rising at 4:00 to run the car through the touchless wash--I start my morning commute at 5:00 AM.

Bill, while you don't have access to a garden hose, you could buy a 1-2 gallon garden sprayer and fill it with distilled or deionized water, and maybe mix in a no rinse product. Keep it handy and if your car ever gets hit with those hard water sprinklers, you can douse your vehicle in less than 10 minutes and wipe it down it with clean microfiber towels soaked in the same solution. I wrote a thread on my Challenger forum on how I wash my car with only 3 gallons of water. Here's a few pics from that process.

Been hyperbusy at work recently, and apart from using the cheapie orbiter once a couple weeks ago, haven't been able to keep the car up as I wanted.

Weather is finally cooperating though--and sprinklers are still hitting the driver's side regularly. (I did discover that they use regular tap water--not 'grey' water, so it's not full of minerals--just half full.)

ClearlyCoated's suggestion is excellent--will put a kit together soon.

Not sure if this has been covered, but a bottle of food grade vinegar (available at your local supermarket) mixed in 50/50 with distilled water sprayed over the entire affected area should do the trick.

Spray the area in the shade and wait for a while for the mild acid to do its work (10~20 minutes top) Then go back with a clean polishing microfiber towel and give the area a good polishing. The spots should come right out.

I would use hand application with medium pressure, slow and methodical.

I had the same thing happened to the beige paint of my car. Trouble was, i let the spot sat in over 3 weeks under california sun. They caked in real good and if you glide finger over the surface, you can actually feel the bump of the mineral deposits on the clear coat.

I tried all polishing compounds using all the power polishers I had at my disposal.

UC did remove small portion of the spots, but the job was far from complete until I tried the vinegar solution.

The clear coat is now perfectly smooth with none of the spots remaining.

Update on my progress. Made a trip to Florida. LOTS of hard water spots from the @#$% reclaimed water irrigation system. Spent about 8 hours yesterday, using the G100, 5" microfiber and the MF cutting compound. Had to use m100 on some really bad spots. Topped it with Ultimate Wax applied with the MF finishing pad. So what do ya'll think
