  • bumper paint dull spot

    Hello All,

A few weeks ago I hit my 14' Cayenne rear bumper I decided to had that replaced, I bought a new one and my dealer body shop painted and installed it, after a week I noticed a few dull spots, my paint is white.. I took it back and they did " compound buffing" again .. everything looks ok but I do have some hair lines, need some polish I think..
the question that I have, if they burned the clear coat, can they still compound and get a shiny finish? how can I tell on white paint.. I ask the advisor my concerns and he told me that they color sanded the paint but the dull spot was because they need it to compound that area..
    thanks for any help

You paid good bucks to the body shop, take it back again (and again if necessary) until you are satisfied.

thanks, I went back, they buffed out or compound the areas, its shinny, I ask the Body shop advisor and he said that the dull spots are caused by the color sanding and they just missed a couple of spots, they compound the areas again..my question was in case they did burned the clear coat, if they compound it can you still get a shinny finish ( hard to detect clear coat damage)

Glad you got it sorted out. They would have had to completely remove the clearcoat when sanding to do real damage. Probably as they said, they just missed polishing up their work, and now have polished the clearcoat back to normal gloss..
